I've had one out of body experience. I was in high school and it was after gym class. We were doing our swimming unit. I'm not a strong swimmer and I swallowed TONS of water this particular day.
I got out of the water, showered and dressed. I didn't feel well and I leaned over on the bench to put my head down for a moment. Before I knew it, my eyes popped back open, but I didn't open them. I looked around and I was hovering above myself near the ceiling. I could see me leaning on the bench. I saw all the other girls walking around, getting ready. They were talking, but their voices were echoed and sounded far away.
It seemed like I was up there for an eternity, but I think it was only a few seconds. I felt my body jerk and I was back on the bench.
VERY strange!

The out of body experience is known by many labels such as astral travel, astral projection, OOBEs and OBEs. A simple definition is: the spirit/soul leaves the physical body behind to explore other planes of existence, or the physical plane without the body (taken from dmoz.org). There's more on this in the FAQ.

Whilst studying books and reading accounts of non-physical travels can be useful, the only true way to understand them is to consciously experience them yourself. You then have personally verifiable explorations on which to base your view of reality. Look here to get started.

The benefits of truly knowing the validity of out-of-body travel are immense:
a sense of knowing that you truly are more than your physical body
a greater understanding of your true identity
knowledge of life after death
overcoming of personal limitations and fears
accelerated personal development
solving personal problems from a more expansive viewpoint
replacing limiting beliefs with personal knowns.

These are just a few of the many benefits. Let's be honest: any expansion of consciousness is A Good Thing. In fact, many people who have had OOBEs report them to be life-changing events; not least myself, a fact which inspired me to start this website. To that end, this site is dedicated to those curious souls who want to know more, and who are willing to entertain the idea that they are more than their physical body.

Once or twice...but it is very rare. It felt like a vacuum getting sucked out......was only out for a few seconds and I was drifting into the corner of the room above my bed....then the vacuum sucked me back in. Then, again, it could have all been a dream.

I can imagine it but it's not true. It does have considerable effects on my dreaming consciousness. I can move my body just as I can in real life, but now I am watching myself do it. It helps free yourself from the uncomfortable state of your body, and the experience is very soothing, but you can never actually leave your body.

I did one time. It was a wonderful feeling. I walked around the house and noticed a very odd thing (unexplainable phenomena) but felt absolutely no fear . Thought I would be able to repeat it but have never been able to again.

You're talking about astral projection, and you can end up going just about anywhere once you're out. So anyone can see basically anything.
