My hubby is very quick witted and it's funny. My sister is a smart a** and it makes me sick!!

The smart *** is a quick-wit who tells you a truth about yourself that makes you resentful. The smart *** thinks you're overly sensitive.
A quick-wit will tell the same 'joke' but use himself or some-else (not you) as the subject. Then the wit laughs slyly behind your back.
I'm the smart *** you may thumbs down if you don't detect the humor in my answer.

A quick witted person is not looking to belittle someone whereas a smart *** is. I like the quick witted ones too. =)
