Bulimia is not likely to make you underweight. Your friend is wrong and is not a professional.

This is very difficult to stop without help, and many times, the help must come in the form of prescribed medication from a doctor. This can be a regular doctor or a psychiatrist. Maybe you can talk to a guidance counselor at school who can give you some ideas on how to talk to your parents.

But take it from someone who knows. You can't just "stop" it without some sort of help, be it talking to someone or taking meds. Something has to break the cycle.

Please do yourself a favor and start the ball rolling on getting some type of assistance from someone who can help you. It is dangerous and harmful to you, and you don't need to go through that anymore. Talking to your parents may be all you can do, and if you have to be really insistent, so be it.

A large percent of bulimics are not underweight. How old are you? I really think you would benefit from talking to someone other than your friend about this. Is there a teacher or guidance counselor or possibly religious leader that you trust?

Bulimia is just as dangerous as anorexia and in many circumstances more dangerous. Purging can do a lot of damage. People can die from their first purge due to a ruptured esophagus. Purging also causes low potassium which can cause a heart attack. Please speak to someone. It's hard to find help on the Internet.

Take care...
