Do Wiccan's really worship the devil? This is what I was told but find that hard to believe.

No.

Wiccans honor Deity as both male and female, God and Goddess -- or at the very least as Goddess. Many Wiccans believe that the universe is the body of God/dess, and therefore that all things contain Divine energy and that the world itself is sacred. Some Wiccans are polytheists (many God/desses); others are duotheists (God and Goddess, of whom all other Gods and Goddesses are simply aspects); others are monotheists (God and Goddess Themselves are simply aspects of an unknowable Source).

Wiccans generally do not believe that God/dess is separate from the world; therefore, we have no concept of salvation, since God/dess is present to all and always. Many Wiccans believe that God/dess is too big to fit inside one religion -- all religions/spiritual paths are ways of reaching the same goal, and atheism and agnosticism are honorable perspectives on the mystery of life.

Wiccans do not worship the devil or Satan -- we have no equivalent being in our cosmology. The God and Goddess are held to contain all aspects of existence: light and darkness, creation and destruction, life and death. We do not separate the universe into "good" and "evil" elements the way that Christians do, and therefore a concept like Satan would be meaningless in our theology.

Hope this helps.

OMG!! No, Wiccans do not worship the Devil, despite the fact that many who answer this will tell you they do, (in which they are GREATLY misinformed and brainwashed to believe that anyone who doesn't believe in their God worships the Devil.) The Devil...is a christian creation made to force others into believeing their religion. Scaring those who don't believe into believing so that they won't go to hell. (It doesn't work, on me at least) Also the Devil was created so that he can be used to blame all the troubles in a Christians life on so they don't have to take responsibility for them, themselves. They just simply say "The Devil made me do it". Which is so childish. I'm sorry, but believers of other faiths would be just as upset if they were accused of something they don't do. Put yourself in their shoes. Pretend you're being accused of worshipping another's God's advasary. Doesn't feel good, does it???

I'm sorry, but whoever told you that was mistaken.

Satan is a part of the Christian and Muslim religions. Since pagans are neither Christian nor Muslim, Satan is not part of our deity structure at all.

We believe that each and every human being is completely responsible for his or her own actions. To us, evil is a choice, albeit a bad one, that a human might make, not an embodied entity to blame our actions upon.

If an individual chooses to do evil, most pagans believe they will be punished via the laws of karma or as a result of "cause and effect.". In other words, "What goes around usually comes around."

Many Witches and Wiccans believe in some form of reincarnation, that the results or karma of past deeds can follow a person from one life to the next. This may also help to explain why terrible things sometimes happen to wonderful people or why some people seem to have been born with certain skills and knowledge. It may also explain why some people seem to lead a 'charmed" life.

Some pagans believe in an after-life spent in another plain of existence. Known as Summerland, Avalon, Valhalla or simply the "Other Side', they believe that they will be reunited here once again with friends and family.

Nope. Wiccans worship nature, and the natural world. They don't even believe in the devil.

In my opinion only because im fairly new as a wiccan, i believe that wiccans do not believe in the devil. They believe in spirits, good spirits, evil spirits, neutral spirits, things like that. Me I personaly believe that thre is a God and I believe that there is a Satan. As of who's side im on, im neutral so i believe mostly in the spirits of good and evil. Some Christians believe that anything notof God is of Satan. So some people might say that they do believe in Satan. I as a wiccan say no they dont

No, Wiccans don't believe in the devil and therefore they do not worship him.
Christians believe they do because in their belief, anyone who doesn't worship their god, worships the devil whether they believe in the devil or not.

Ain't no such being, as far as Wiccans are concerned, so certainly we don't honor or worship a being we are certain doesn't exist.

No.

We honor the God and Goddess, the two faces of the Divine - male and female, light and dark, energy and form.....mainifest in nature and all things of nature.

No, they don't. Thats Christian propaganda. Wiccans worship a god and a goddess who are equals, neither being good or evil. They also revere nature and feel that they are a part of it, rather than separate and above it as Christians believe.
