My pitt puppy is very finicky, and won't eat alot of the wet foods that we provide....gets a little expensive after awhile. She eats Beneful dry food, but their wet food is too expensive $1.60 per container, she likes only pedigree pouches and ceaser as alternatives and won't eat can food...Any ideas?

You shouldn't be feeding a wet food alone, as your dog more than likely will experience diarrhea without some dry food as well.
Be VERY careful with your proteins. Your pup shouldn't be eating anything too high in protein as she develops. Pits tend to grow rather quickly, almost like a molosser breed will. I push toward feeding controlled growth dry foods (such as Nutro Controlled Growth) with pits so that they don't grow too fast and end up comprimising their bone health. A food for dogs that aren't high energy would be suitable, if you don't want to feed a controlled growth. Flip your dog food bags over and read their ingredients and percentages. Foods for high energy dogs are generally higher in proteins and fats than food formulated for dogs that don't need the same maintenance.
If your dog is being that picky, she simply might not need to eat much. If you're worried about her intake, up her exercise levels. Take her for rather long walks before ever offering her food or water, and make sure that they are structured, heel, sit when you stop, etc. No healthy dog will starve itself. Don't free feed your dog, either. Only allow a certain amount of time for feeding. Once she realizes that her food is only available to her through you for a limited amount of time, she'll start eating what she's given. Just remember, it won't happen over night. Get her into a routine with structured exercise, then food and water, then affection and playtime, and she should snap out of it maybe in as little as just a few days. If she doesn't, you may want to consult your vet as she might have another underlying problem.
Good luck! And take care of that pitty, they are one in a million!

First off you need to get him off Beneful...it is a very low quality food filled with cheap fillers.
Corn, wheat, soy are all high allergens and dogs aren't designed to eat grains..they are carnivores, meat eaters. It takes up to 3 times more of a grain based food for a dog to get the proper nutrition then it does of a good quality meat based food.

Look for a good qaulity food..some real good choices are Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Wellness, Percise, Premium Edge, Blue Buffalo just to name a few. All of these are in dry and wet formulas.

You're making your puppy more and more finicky the more you baby her and give her whatever she likes. Make sure that a vet checkup rules out any medical problems that might make a dog lose its appetite. Then give the puppy the best dry food you can find, give it to her on a routine, and take it away if she doesn't eat it in around 10 minutes. Unless she is actually ill, she won't starve herself.

A dry brown kibble is the best food to feed dogs. Feeding canned food as a treat is ok but should not be fed regularly. Dry food is better than canned food for the teeth and gums

FIRST of all, for all of you dumbasses that said 'poison', go and shoot yourself in the head.

I own a Pit Bull and a Pit Bull cross, and they WOULD NEVER KILL ANYBODY! SOME OF YOU THINK THAT THEY ATTACK PEOPLE FOR NO REASON! BUT THEY DON'T! IT'S THEIR OWNERS FAULT FOR TRAINING THEM TO KILL! GET IT THROUGH YOUR DAMN HEADS!

My dogs are finicky also, but they all LOVE Innova EVO, it's an extremely high-quality food and they're all doing great on it! It's a bit expencive though, so you could try some of the other brands that the person above me named..

We have an American pitbull puppy straight from Maine. He was malnurished so what we like to give him is puppy formula at least twice a day, one in the morning and once at night. We buy the big bag so it lasts longer. It's dry food. I'm thinking that the brand is Purina Puppy Chow? But anything that says it's for puppies works good. Since then our puppy has put on weight and is healthy according to the vet.

any person that says poison or children is really stupid and doesnt know a thing about dogs !!!! dogs are only mean and aggressive if unsocialized or treated badly. second purina, pedigree, science diet ,eukanuba etc are extremly bad quality food filled with bad ingredients plain and simple. you dont even want to know whats really in those foods. there are plenty or good foods out there. (chicken soup for dog lovers, solid gold, timberwolf, acana, innova, innova evo etc) the best place too find good food is a holistic pet food store where you can be directed to a good food just for your dog. it isnt good to feed just wet foods as it can ruin teeth etc. try samples (at a good petfood store ,holistic) and see which one she/he likes. at my store we give samples based on the dog ,size type, allergies, tastes etc

I'd recommend Nutro. It's the only dog food with no byproducts which is healthier for them and reduces their waste by up to 40%

Little children are, in fact, a pitt bull's favorite food.
