you are part of a sniper team (consists of 2 people, you and your spotter)... your in mid Baghdad... ur sniper "nest" is on the ground, and a group of insurgents spot you's... You's are completely out numbered, you only have ur sniper rifle and a m9 pistol, your friend only has a m16 with only 1-2 clips... You realize you's have no chance of survival and if they get u's alive most likely you'll be torcherd like hell because they hate snipers... what would you do?

I personally would try n take out as many as I can and then with my last bullet take my own life...

Several things here smack of X-box player.

First of all your spotter?

Why's he only got 1-2 mags? Our Standard in 2004/2005 was 15X30rd Mags Minumum.

Still , if its a Trained Sniper Team , he has 60 rounds to kill the enemy, as a trained sniper he should be able to hold off substantial numbers of Insurgents at bay.

No Frags, No Smoke, No Pyro?

Now You,
whats your Long gun? M24, M21, M107?

Whats Your Ammo Loadout?

Wheres Your Radio? Garmin at the least

Wheres Your Overwatch/Security element?

Wheres your QRF, or Egress route?

Dont know about whatever circumstances you alledge, but My Units Sniper teams never went out HalfaSsed like that. And we did use a Ground level postition on occassion besides the rooftops.

and Frankly, if they did capture you you'd be tortured equally if you were a Truckdriver as you would for being a "Sniper"

Well, if you're a real sniper you should have an escape vector laid out. The spotter lays down enough suppressive fire to get their heads down, and the two of you bug out. If for some reason that's not possible, take measured shots until they give up or successfully shoot you.

Why the heck would you get that close to a group that has you completely outnumbered anyway? Geez, I thought they trained snipers better than that.

well.....why not radio for support? and why does the spotter only have 2 mags? in some of the fire fights i heard about an easy 3-5 mags are gone rather quickly. and how did the enemy spot him? was he supporting an assault or was he out there one his own? seals, marines, army which branch, that does play a major role. if he was a seal I thought they trained them not to be in that kind of situation, if they are either a marine or army sniper I would imagine they were supporting a larger force then just there two man team and would be able to call for support.

You're a sniper. 2 mags for a M16 mean 2 x 30 shots. That's not counting the sniper rifle and the pistol. You think they can take 60 dead and still keep coming?
BTW, you really should have taken more ammo.

well I would sling every last piece of hot lead down range at the enemy and try to fall back to a more defensable position. Radio in and hold out.

I would like to know however, why the spotter was down to 1-2 mags? A standard combat load is 210 rounds, 7 mags. Why would he be down to 30-60? especially in mid Baghdad...also given the proximity to the city and a few military bases and given that your not out of commo...I would call for re enforcements.

You left out something critical. Does my spotter have a radio? If he does, then I would radio the coordinates into my higher command to forward to an artillary unit or order an air strike. Then I would do three things, shoot, move communicate, and kill as many as I can. Another critical detail you left out would be how much ammo I have left, and how many insurgents there are.

Analyze the situation.
Determine the best situation.
1) Fight and kill as many insurgents and garrison some of their guns and ammo.
2) Quickly manage some covering fire and slip away.

Killing yourself is not a option, I'd rather die trying

You are a moron to think that a good sniper location in the middle of a major city is on the ground. You always look for the best covered and concealed location, which offers you the best fields of fire.

In an Urban Area it would be on the top floor of one of the largest structures or on the roof.

You may think you are John Wayne, but in reality you would be crying like the sissy you are.

Fight my way into the nearest mosque and force them to desecrate one of their own places of worship to get to me. Then I'd make sure that I burned the whole damned bulding down around their heads as my last act.
