I beleive that civilians have rights to get guns, and rifles... that's acceptable... but do you really think that a 18yr old w/ a clean record shoudl be able to buy a 50 caliber sniper system? A gun this big could easily kill people, shoot engines out of cars, and cause alot of trouble if fallen into the wrong hands... The gun ranges over a mile or two... any one could just go far away n snipe sum1... scrape off serial numbers rebore the barrel n chuck it somewhere n they'll never figure it out...

Give me your thoughts

I agree with you. I have zero problems with people owning guns for protection or for hunting. This type of weapon is neither. It's meant for one thing and that is killing someone from real far away. We don't need citizens to buy these things. If they want to fire a weapon of this kind go and rent it from a licensed shooting range operator.

A firearm that has that large of a caliber is a little absurd.

Personally I own firearms, several rifles, pistols, and even a few shotguns. Some are collectors items, some are for target shooting, and a few are for hunting.

Unless you are planning to go kill an elephant or some other horribly large animal, 50 cals. should be sold on the same basis as automatic weapons (which can be purchased by civilians), after a lengthy and in depth background search, safety classes, and psychological exam.

Yes, they should be able to buy what ever firearm they want.

I have a close friend that uses an old WWII .50 cal for deer hunting, sure its a high power high power rifle and the same type was used for other purposes in the past. Who is to tell him what he can use it for? It’s only a tool; it’s the person who decides what to do with it.
Most people who own high powered rifles, just like taking the gun down to the range for target practice, others use them for big game hunting. Why should we try and guess their intent? The only firearm's I see as a possible problem with are fully automatic's, and those people should have to go above and beyond normal means to obtain.
I am all for safety classes, but those should be required with before purchasing any firearm.

in case you have the final volume of money you need to possibly purchase one. the element that makes it a sniper rifle is the scope and the guy using it no longer the dimensions of the bullet. Many muzzle loading rifles are .50 cal plus and are used in searching. yet why you're able to decide on something like that for searching is in question. Many weapons are semi-computerized. you're able to additionally ought to envision jointly with your state approximately regulations and standards to possess a gun each and each state is diverse. I also have a pal right here who has an computerized device gun, and has a enable.

In Australia, it would be illegal to own that weopen, unless a special licence is held. It's hard enough to even own one rifle let alone a .50 cal!

the .50 cal rifle is generally now considered an anti-material weopen. It's used to shoot through a wall of a command/communication vehicle/building and destroy vital communication systems and weopen systems.

cheers,

A .22 goes a mile and a half. People who live in the city have cars that go 220 mph. So what's your point?
