You can wash it once a day or twice if you must but don't be rubbing the scalp as it causes your sebaceous glands to secrete more natural oils which in turn is causing your hair to get greasy. Don't use the water too hot as that has the same as effect as above & use conditioner if you like but just apply it to the hair shafts & not on your scalp. squeeze some fresh lemon juice into the conditioner you use as that helps to cut the grease too....make sure you rinse your hair til the water runs clear.
Always comb your hair when wet...never use a brush unless your hair's dry. keep your brush & comb clean as that also can promote grease, you're brushing it off then putting it back on again. When combing hair always start from the bottom & work your way up as this will help to thicken your hair, if you brush it from the top down, it will cause tangles that will in turn be pulling your hair out & causing it to break....thus causing your hair to thin out. make sure you have a healthy diet & eat omega3 either through fish products or take an omega3 fish oil supplement as lacking this can also cause hair to thin out.......KB.

Shampooing less often prevents oily hair. Washing your hair every day strips it of natural oils and coats it with unnecessary chemicals and residue, leaving it limp and under-nourished. Find a shampoo that suits your hair type and wash every other day.

Using too much conditioner causes oily hair. If your hair tends to be oily, choose a light conditioner to use every other day, or just apply it to the ends of your hair, where it's needed the most. Always use conditioner in small amounts--less than a teaspoon.

Rinsing thoroughly prevents oily hair. The build up of compounds from styling products and perspiration contributes to the problem of oily hair. Spend an extra minute to scrub under the water--your scalp will thank you.

A healthy diet prevents oily hair. Avoid excessively fatty and oily foods, as well as additives and preservatives. Heavy fats work their way into skin oils, causing overly oily skin and hair. Increase your intake of vitamins, minerals, and proteins: they work to strengthen your hair.

Added stress causes oily hair. Stress in other parts of your life (such as the fluctuating hormones of the female cycle) will affect the state of your hair (and the rest of your body), so be aware of your mental and emotional health and take time every day to wind down and relax.

Treatment for Oily Hair

There a many hair products designed specifically to treat oily hair. The best choices are mild shampoos and conditioners, often labeled "clarifying," that gently moisturize your hair and don't contain any harsh detergents like sulfates.

You may also find that giving a higher-end, salon-brand product a chance will bring you visible results sooner. These products are designed to produce healthier hair without using unnecessary and damaging chemicals, giving your hair and scalp the benefit of a long-lasting treatment aimed specifically at your needs. And, of course, for additional advice you can always discuss your options with a hair-stylist.

Try to avoid MOISTURIZING shampoos and conditioners for a while, i mean most shampoo and conditioners have some kind of moisturizers in them but dont use as much or buy suave for a month or so, also you can wash your hair with just regular body soap, like zest bar soap or try using a little bit of tide that really works too and either one will make your hair smooth and really manageable but not so greasy and oily!! GOOD LUCK!!!

What do you prefer: oily hair or thick hair? If you prefer oily, then use the dove 2 in 1... If you prefer thick hair, find a shampoo for greasy or oily hair... It's okay to wash it twice a day...

Washing your hair a lot won't hurt you normally, though for most people it would damage their hair after a while.

Go to a very good salon and get their professional advice. Almost anything off the grocery or drugstore shelf is rubbish for your hair. Also at a salon they can style your hair so that the fineness is less noticeable and help you with a good quality shampoo.

Try some shampoo and for oily hair, and i suggest not using conditioner. Sometimes hair produces too much oil from washing it too much, but also its good to wash oily hair. You may want to try seeing a hair stylist.

What is making your hair be so oily? You might want to visit a dermatologist or even call one just for a suggestion for oily hair.

its greasy because you wash it to often by stimulating your glands (washing. rubbing scalp) you make them work even harder to keep up with your overwashing result they produce too much oils.....stop washing every day and try washing every other day for the days you don't wash use powder in your hair it will absorb grease and let you get to washing day and slowly but surely your glands will stop producing all these extra oils...use fuctis for geasy roots and dry ends and no contioner unless you have chemically lighterned hair.....
