Think of it in the same manner as eating a sewer rat. You never know what they may be carrying in an urban enviroment. Aside from that, yes, pigeon meat is a traditional English food (wood pigeon), but if you walk into nelson square with an airgun or shotgun you may be catching your last meal! (and think of the police response) !

These days people do not regard pigeon or even rabbit as potential food and to be honest, it would cost more to buy a tin of pellets in the hope of shooting something in a safe enviroment than it would to go to ASDA and buy a dead chicken that I guarantee will taste much better.

Pigeon meat as such is safe to eat, but only if it has been reared by people. It seems that to the educated eye, every wild pigeon has mites or some other disease. If you need to be put off any more then just look at what they scavenge off. If you really want to try pigeon meat then I think Waitrose sells it.

I don't think you're allowed to! Pigeon meat is ok to eat, some restaurants sell it, it might be wood pigeon though.

No. Most pigeons are scavengers and carry all sorts of diseases. It would not be safe to catch them for food.

I suggest you buy lots of barbeque chickens if you like poultry.

There's so many there, I don't think anyone is going to miss a few of them.
there is ofcourse the whole disease thing they carry, but I reckon after cleaning the meat with some kind of germ killer thing, it'll be ready to eat.

If you ever go to the beach, you might want to try seagull too :)

Get a life. That's very cruel. There's too many humans in the world... Hopefully something bigger will catch you and use you as food.
