Who says that is what happened?

Who suspects it was a trick?

If he did rise into the sky, and presumably all the way to Heaven, did he go with just the clothes he had on?

Replies from religion scholars appreciated.

More likely than not that it did not happen. Just for beginners, it would have been recorded in history that had nothing to do with religion or the bible.

Such an event would never have gone by unnoticed. Even the Greeks 5000 years earlier had a record left of their turn to Democracy. The Jews were such an advanced civilization that most knew how to read and write and not a single one wrote in Jewish history this event? Impossible to believe so it probably didnt happen.

Most practical Christians believe that Christ rose in spirit and his teaching "rose from dead" and will live on forever. Had nothng to do with the actual body of Christ.

I am not a religious scholar presently, but Christ was dead about 39 hours; yet that was 3 nights and 3 days as there was an eclipse than. God did not define a night and day as being 24 hours; see Gen. 1 or 2.
As for what he was wearing at his ascension; presently I do not know.

I read my Muslim friends long comment and his author is so mistaken. The body of Jesus went up in a cloud with the disciples watching Him. And the angels said He would return the same way. Jesus' glorified body is the only one of its kind in heaven. The saints in heaven are spirits like angels and they will not get their body like Jesus' until they return to earth with Jesus riding white horses as Revelation tells us. The disciples were frightened in that room where Jesus just appeared without entering through a door because they thought Him dead. Apostle John was at the crucifixion with Jesus' mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. The apostles were very aware of what happened to Jesus on the cross.

My Muslim friend - you don't know what you are talking about.

The written accounts of about 20 people living in his time say it happened.

By the way, if the accounts were all exactly the same, wouldn't you suspect trickery then?

He rose, gave the holy spirit, talked to people, and then ascended into heaven 40 days later.

Yes JESUS rose from the dead.HIS flesh actually died like ours would under the same method of death, which was cruifixion. The fact that JESUS rose from the dead, indicates HIS power over death, hell, and the grave. As we who have recieved HIM as LORD and SAVIOR,have the same power over death, hell, and the grave, also.
