Would you rather have a very friendly cashier who has average speed, or a quick cashier that only gives you smile and a thank you at the end of the transaction?

Quick with a smile and a thank you. I appreciate friendliness, but the quick one is being friendly too!

Hello. As a cashier myself, I was drawn to your question. I'd rather have a friendly, kind cashier than one who's speedy but wants me out of their area. To be honest, I really don't expect a lot of real kind friendly service when I'm shopping. It's so nice when I do get that kind one who says something which makes me leave feeling good. I had a customer once who said to me "Oh shut up, you're at work" as I was ringing up an order and in motion to a song playing overhead. It's a fickle people out there. Some want you to talk whilst others want you to shut up and just ring them up. Good luck and keep pushing... and don't let the turkeys get you down. Peace!

I guess that would depend on where I was in line. I hate to be at the back of a long line and the cashier talks to customer all about her children, her dog, and who knows what.

Depends on my mood. Today I got a very slow cashier that didn't even give me a smile and a nod. I don't think I even got a thank you from her.

Aloha from Down Unda!

Depends on 'vibes':

If it's an overtly friendly bad vibe, give me the quicker, no nonsense transaction.

If it's an overtly friendly good vibe, there's no hurry!

[As if you didn't know!]

Best wishes ~
