Actually, nobody really knows how old Aisha was when she married Muhammad. At the time, it certainly was not unusual for women (Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and Pagan) to marry before puberty, but generally, they did wait until puberty before marriage was consemated. Pedophilia by definition only applies in cases where the child has not undergone puberty.
The other thing to consider is that numbers at this time were not exactly used as they are today. When it was assumed to be known, sometimes the first number was missing. 6 could in fact be 16, 9 could in fact be 19. Laylat al-Qadr is a perfect example of this, where the number 21 is repeatedly stated as 1. 25 is repeatedly written as 5.
One reason to believe she was older than this is that we know that she was at least 15 years old during the Battle of Badr and Battle of Uhud, because the same texts which state that she was 6 and 9 state that she went to these and that nobody under the age of 15 was allowed to go. This would mean that she would have been a minimum of 13 at the time of marriage, so she probably was 16 and 19, rather than 6 and 9.

All I have to say is that true she was 9 married and yes times were different but who is our generation to judge!
Girls get pregnant at 12-14, boys feel on girls at 8-10 and many have already lost their virginity, so I've heard which WE think is crazy right?
But if we can control those kids and some of those kids will turn out to be your kids or great grandchildren, don't judge Muhammad pbuh or Ayesha r.l.a. If American girls when they see their period they too know it's the first sign of womenhood.
If she chose a marriage with whomever at least she did it the right way!

Times were different but not that different. It wasn't uncommon to betrothed at that age. But normally you were NOT married until at least your teens. Then you could have a family and were considered to be at the age of responsibility. You would be considered an adult with all the same rights and responsibilities and would be accountable to all your actions. You were beyond the age of innocence. Any earlier then that wasn't really the norm anywhere.
And by the way - we don't know how old Mary was when she married Joseph. It is hypothesized that she was 13 - a normal marrying age. But she could have been any age. All we know is that she was considered an adult - so she would have at least been 13.

She was 6 when her father asked Muhammad's hand in marriage, because Muhammad was a noble respected man. but he refused. later when she was 9, she had reached her puberty and can make decision on her own, Muhammad asked for her hand in marriage. and thats when they got married. no forcing.
fyi, ayesha was one of the most respectable and greatest female scholar in islam. when she was 9, she was already a woman. in islam, whenever a girl reached her puberty, thats when she was considered a woman. ayesha when she was 9, she wasnt like any other 9-year-old girl nowadays...
