He has never said that before and never ever makes predictions like that. I do believe that he hears from God. I am secure in my salvation but I just can't stop thinking about what he said.

Death means spiritual change.
It could mean he did foresee a physical death, as people die every day, and he could have had a forewarning.

But in reference to you, I doubt God would put a fear in your heart unless you were meant to change something in yourself, even if it is only your way of thinking that changes. If you can embrace the challenge and ask God to help you welcome new change, and learn to see the death and rebirth of spiritual stages in your life equally as critical as physical death, then I don't think you will fear physical death so much.

I would put my trust in God to ask what the message means, and if there is anything in your thinking that needs to change.

Um. Are you serious?

Your preacher may hear from God. We all can have a personal relationship with God and hear from Him. Your preacher (and us) may not hear from God correctly. A lot of times we misinterpret things people say and do. We may misinterpret information because we can't see the entire picture called life. Or we may misinterpret things because we are putting our wants, needs, prejudices, and etc first and this is warping what we hear. I guess it's like that old game called telephone.

It's the season of Lent. This is the time where we question ourselves and our actions. Are we acting like Jesus (or God) and being loving, respectful, and etc. If we say no then this can separate ourselves from God. This separation can be like a "death". So maybe your preacher meant a figurative death. (Which I think maybe the case)

If you're preacher really meant a literal death, then I don't know what to say. NO ONE can predict things like that except God. I don't know if God would tell someone if they were going to die.

No one is absolutely perfect or completely saved on our own actions. That's why we have Jesus. Have a strong relationship with God and your fellow man. Stop thinking about it.

Well - chances are someone in the church will face death. That's just logical. Especially if you have elderly or ill people in your church.

I wouldn't say that is an astounding perdiction there.

If you are secure in your faith then why are your worried? Are you suddenly aware of your own mortality? We are all going to have to face death. It's a part of life. And your preacher probably has no idea when your time is.

I wouldn't worry about it. Leave it to God.

Then if you're secure in your salvation...not to worry. You'll be fine. And if you're still worried, then ask your guardian angels to help keep watch over you. I sure will...okay? Besides, sometime ministers are speaking of a 'spiritual death'...possibly falling away from any beliefs and taking sides with athesim...or joining a cult of some kind. There is more than 'natural death'...okay? Don't worry 'cause worry brings stirfe.'

We all will some day face death, but we have defeated death and the grave in our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am speculative as to his prophesy; Some times a minister uses a
conception such as this as a tool to deliver the message He wishes to convey. Personally I think it is a Mistake to do so unless He is absolutely 100% given this Message by God and is felt led of the Holy Spirit to Prophesy to the People.
In any case, You are SAFE-"Whosoever Believes in me shall not Parish but have everlasting Life". You Qualify as a Who-So-Ever. Jesus Christ has paid the penalty of our sins wich is Death. You now have everlasting life; To Die of self is to live with Him, WOW, what a Joy we have in this.

Maybe he was in the hospital with someone and was told that by the doctors. He may really know.

Hey, in a big congregation "soon" really wouldn't be that much of stretch to make. Jesus said he would be back while people were still alive and as you can tell, most haven't decided he is late yet.

No one can really know that, but if it's a large congregation, it's a fairly safe - and remarkably insensitive - prediction to make. Some member of it is bound to be either elderly or ill, or - like you - upset and worried about it. What the heck was he thinking?

It's not a terribly risky prediction, is it? People face death all the time. I bet his god didn't say "let's make it so vague as to be meaningless but at the same time scare the pants off people"...

If you think about it, the prediction is not a speculative prediction at all.

Yes, someone is dying every second in this world. And someone is being born as well. There is nothing unusual in this fact.

That’s not what he meant he was most likely trying to tell people that death could come at anytime. So they should be spiritually prepared. Why is it that the atheist understands church rhetoric more than the religious?
