My cat did this when he was the wrong kind of food. The better quality food he is on, the better his weight is maintained. I'd try Iams or another high quality brand that specifically states that it builds lean muscle. The kind she's on probably isn't nutritious enough for her. Good luck!

Is she spayed/vaccinated and otherwise healthy?

You might need to change her food. Dry food does have more fat/calories in it than wet. That is a true fact btw.

"Friskies" in the purple bag with "Carnation Milk balls" in it is a great cat food. Leave a full bowl out for her 24/7 along with water.

Also feed her "treats" like "Pounce" a few times a day.

Wet food a few times a week or 1x a day depending on how you want to do it.

STAY AWAY from table scraps. They will and do make cats sickly and human food does take care of kitty's nutritional needs.

If all is said and done and kitty is still skinny and healthy (according to the vet after a check up) then face it she is a little gal. It is normal to have petite cats. Like people. Some fat/skinny/regular, ect..

Does have bad breath and has she been losing weight or was she skinny to begin with? Also is she an older cat? If she is having any of these other symptoms she needs to get to the vet. She may have kidney disease. Which it can be maintained with a special diet. My cat has kidney disease and once we took him to the vet and they gave him an IV for a couple days he was doing much better and started eating again and now he is back to the weight he is supposed to be at. Take a loan out if you need to and get that cat to the vet.

You must have, by all means a veterinarian. If you do not have this then you cannot afford to have a cat.

Well, this poses a problem I am afraid. You say that you cannot afford a vet, which is a bad thing, a very bad thing. I would suggest that you put your cat up for adoption or give her to the SPCA or maybe perhaps giving her away to another family and allowing them to care for her.

Please do not keep the cat if you cannot afford it.

The cat may have hyperthyroidism.....More common in older cats.....There is medication available for that condition....could be worms or many other things. Spend the $$$ to have a vet take a look into the situation.

Mine had the same problem but my vet told me to feed her purina one care also by spaying and nuetering a cat it will put more weight on. It doesn't cost much just take her to the humane society and they will help you at a low cost.. good luck....

If you get her spayed she will gain some. I feed my cats dry food Iams. I give them treats and a can of Iams food. This might help your cat.My male cat is skinny but healthy so some cats are just ment to be skinny.

I'd have the cat checked for intestinal parasites. It's a good guess when she's eating but not able to keep on any weight. If you check her anal area, you may see small, white, rice-sized segments of tapeworm emerging.
