I personally like Saint Zoe, a greek saint, martyr and slave. She was a Christian and killed along with her daughter by her pagan master because of her faith and reluctance to renounce her faith. This story just speaks to me above the others.

John Fox, the author of Fox's Book of Martyr, was almost killed, they certainly hunted for him. He wrote about many, but my computer with all that information is not running currently.

But there's a source. It's all about Protestants that died before, during and after the Reformation. It goes into details on what the Inquisitions were, and what they did.

It seems like I would remember one name . . . Peter Waldo.

Saint Alban. First martyr in Britain, got a town named after him, quite close to where I live, so there will be loads on the web

St Stephen? Just went to Rome late last year and the guy seems to be painted/sculpted a lot.
