Why do coconuts float?

i know they can but i dont know why.

they are hollow inside

Coconuts are hollow, containing a liquid very close to water in density. The rest of the coconut is like wood, which is less dense than water. The combination, therefore, is less dense than water, so they will float.

Same reason why everything else floats...less dense than water/liquid it floats in.
