i took him to the doctor on Wednesday because his eyes were goopy. he was dignosed with pink eye. They doctor prersribed amoxicillan. on Friday when he woak up his eye was bright red. I am wondering if he could be immune to amixicillion because he has used it multiple times for other illnesses and he is only 17 months old. What do you think?

I called the hospital. They said that they aren't allowed to give opinions over the phone and it's not an emergancy. So i should just call the doctor tomarrow. They also said orange tears is unusual and they don't know why it would be orange.

There must be blood behind his eye.
Call the doctor about the red eye.

Perhaps he needs to see an eye doctor to get a better look?

Good luck

i do no longer think of he's allergic to Amoxicillian. He might have a much extra extreme reaction, like hives, a rash, fever something like that. The pink eye does worsen when you first word it, so the reddening you spot must be the form of the an infection. i does no longer call the healthcare professional till you return to a decision there has been no progression for 40 8 hrs and there's a rash or fever latest.

Pink eye, if left unattended, affect sight. Is there pus in the corners of his eyes, eye lids that want to be glued shut and of course the pink eye. Make sure you use a clean wash cloth on him every time and change his pillow cases, etc. Call the doctor in the morning and tell him about the orange tears, this doesn't sound normal.

I would take him back to the doctor. If the medicine made his eye turn bright red it sounds like it's irritating his eye or possibly he's having an allergic reaction. I've had pink eye before and that never happened.

No pink eye is an infection and isn't normal it's also contagous. keep using the medicine until the dr said. I'm sure it's going to look worse until it gets better. I'd take him back to the dr's if it doesn't clear up in a week or 10 days...

I would go see the doctor. That doesn't sound normal. I've worked in a daycare for about a year and I've never seen orange tears.

I'm deleting all my comments until you provide more information....

What did he go to the doctor for and what was the prescription.

I'm confident enough from what you've said already to say this is NOT conjunctivitis. Ignore any posts that discuss conjunctivitis or "pink eye".

It sounds like he has pink eye (conjunctivitis). He probably picked up the infection at the doctor's office. I would go back to the doctor or give them a call and ask for antibiotic eye drops.

If the tears are orange there is a possibility that there is blood present. he needs to be rechecked. call the office and tell the nurse now.

that doesn't sound right. i had alot of cases of pink eye when i was little and i don't remember that happening to me. i would see the doctor, it could be that he's allergic to the prescription he gave him.
