I would consult your doctor first. Don't go off them without dr knowing..dependent on the anti-depressant? don't ya think you need it? Are you talking to a therapist also? Sometimes ppl don't need meds. Why would you think your dependent on them? Your depressed you need them. Or not? It's all in what you think your mind and body need. Only you know what you need. But what ever you do don't just go off them, your body can crash you have to be weaned off them by your dr. Maybe you can find some other way to handle your depression. Meditation is a great way to lift the bur don writing in a journal keeping record of the good bad and the ugly also so you can see progress of whats going on in your life..let your dr know whats going on maybe the meds your on aren't quite working? But don't prolong it its very important not to mess with medicine and depression...
good luck

This is what I would do:
First week: Take a whole Prozac capsule one day.
Next day, empty about half of ingredients out and
take half (after putting capsule back together).
Do that for about a week.
Then, only take half capsule/day for a week. Continue reducing amount in capsule weekly until you can do without them.
You will be able to figure it out on your own. Most doctors won't have a clue. The previous answer is good if you have liquid Prozac but you can make it work with capsules. I hope it is capsules that come apart. If the capsule doesn't fit back together, just sprinkle some of the ingredients on your food.
Nothing has to be exact.

It is common to suffer a level of withdrawal symptoms when coming off SSRI antidepressants.
I usually solve the problem by changing the patient to the liquid preparation. This makes it possible to reduce the dose very gradually, which cannot be done with the tablets.
If you are on 20mgs I usually suggest dropping about 5ms/ month. I always review each patient before each planned reduction. If this drop is still too steep for them it may be necessary to slow it down even further,
SO FAR, I have not had a failure to date.

Pending your medication? it has to be a VERY gradual weening off process!! I went through a bad stage and had abused Tranqs for quite a few years and coming off them was worse than alcohol rehabilitation and illegal drug use!! I kicked tranqs in 1990 and still crave them today!! but i was on a very addictive brand back then. SLOWLY is my advice here and your half way there wanting to come off them.

You need to speak to a counsellor. In fact, you should probably get counselling before you come off your medication, so you can make a gradual withdrawal as you make gradual progress.
Don't just come off them - your system needs time to adjust, and so do you.

You need to come off them VERY slowly. Seek the advice of your GP, I'm sure he/she will tell you to reduce the dose very gradually, if it's felt you're ready to come off meds. It could take months, be patient.

You need to speak to your doctor.
Explain your needs to him, he will be able to know what to do for you. He knows why your on them and he knows when you should come of them.
He the best person to ask and think you should book in for an appointment on Monday.
