I want to lose weight & the universal beginning of most weight loss plans is you have to figure out why you are fat to begin with. I really do think I just like to eat fattening food but apparently that's not the root of the problem. How do I figure this out & where do I begin?

I think everyone likes one fattening food or another so you're right that isn't the root of your problem.
1. how overweight are you and what is your body fat index
2. how much exercise do you get daily
3. look at a listing of the good groups and how much of each you should have daily
4. Do you eat correctly and well balanced
5. how often do you eat and how much at a sitting?
6. For 1 week keep a diary of what food/how much/when
you eat. Compare this to how you answered the above.
Were you correct?

Once you have all these elements then you can start a weight loss program. Sometimes, however, the weight loss program is really a "right eating" program . Remember too that some people actually need to eat more to loose weight. You could actually intake too small an amount of food. The body needs a certain balance of all your food groups so if you are excluding some of them you might be actually hindering your body efficiently burning food and actual weight loss.

keep a journal. what you eat. how you feel. how much you exercise. how much and how well you sleep. you'll figure something out after looking at the journal for a month or so.
and just the process of doing it will make you want to do
more positive things. maybe try to do something a little physical each hour of the day...just for a few minutes...something simple.

not to make light of it....but i keep animals, feed them the same...but every individual eats and exercises differently
and with the same amount of food, some are fat and some
are thin.

Look at your diet and your exercise routine - if you have one.

Eliminate fatty (junk) foods, white bread, fast foods & sweets. Jump on a treadmill, go for walks, take the stairs, join a fitness class. Any exercise that is more than what you have been doing will benefit you. I got a dog & starting walking her 3 times a day. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks !! I also stay away from all the foods above except for 1 day a week.

Get a health checkup and see if it is any kind of health issue or thyroid problem. Then use a food diary and keep track of what you eat all day. Then think back and see if you have had any trama around the time you started gaining weight.

I hate on Tv when they show people who blame it on some kind of mental thing, when really it is because food is good and we all like to eat.

I also hate the whole issue when I see someone who is large and someone who is skinny and the skinny person eats three times more than the large person...yet the large person is accused of overeating.

Look at your family members figures. Are they skinny or heavier? Do they eat the same diet as you. it could be fattening foods you are eating, lack of exercise or genetics
