1st off, if you have to ask, then the right age isn't now. If you question your feelings about another or you're worried that your parents wouldn't approve, or if some of your girlfriends that you hang out with have one and are teasing you because you don't, then no, you're still too young. Personally, I think if I had a daughter, I would say 15. That is when they are generally starting High School but I know I would keep a tight rein on her where-a-bouts and who she is seeing. If the guy is a "player", then he wouldn't get near you. He would know the "ground rules" and you would be expected to do the right thing and be trusted to do the right thing. If you do anything to lose that trust, then consequences would occur.

Techniquely, there is no absolute RIGHT age. You could be any age and have a boyfriend. You could be 40 going on 41 and not married but still have a boyfriend. You could be 9 and you really like this guy so you ask him out and you are happy. I think the appropriate age is around 12 to 20.

I figure, if you can drive, you can date. This is because a) if you're not mature enough to drive, how can you justify being mature enough to date? and b) do you really want your parents chaperone-ing?
