Its not even a close race, bone stock camaros run mid to low 13's in the quarter mile,01 mustangs run mid to low 14's,and if an 07 gt mustang can beat any year LS1,then the person in the LS1 cant drive because the new body style gt's are a 14 second car. With a good driver high 13's

I am a Ford and Mustang fan, but the Camaro would win easily with equal drivers. Sorry, but the GT 4.6 SOHC at 260 horsepower is highly underpowered compared to the LS1, and the Camaro doesn't give up much wieght to the 2001 Mustang. After all, it's not a Foxbody. They were pretty heavy compared to the earlier cars. The LS1 was rated at 305, and was very conservatively rated by GM. I have seen many chassis dyno runs on these cars at around 300, so they are making far more than the rated 305 at the flywheel. I have a '92 LX that when it was stock, was faster than the '01 Mustang GT. Sorry, sad but true. Ford won this battle for many years, but by this time, they had lost. Just to make everyone happy, I have owned both, and the Mustang is a far better built car, especially in these years.

Hmm an LS1 Camaro vs Stang. The LS1 after a few hundred feet blow by and there will be no looking back.

A 5.0 Mustang owner.

The Camaro has a 5.7, aluminum block and heads and better gear ratio. Will definitely take on the Mustang. Race safe!

Brand new, i would have to give the edge to the Camaro, but it would be a close race and ultimately come down to the driver. Now if they aren't brand new it depends on mileage and a lot of other things. Both cars can lose power mighty quickly if you don't take care of them.

Camaro Camaro Camaro! Mustangs suck so much *** it isn't even funny. They are cheap immitations that don't represent what a car should be and if it was up to me, they would be recalled for being a suck *** car.
