I know that wrestlers use the method of sweating it out. They excercise, but put on a boatload of clothing. Drinking water however, will put the weight back on. If you really want to lose 5 lb, you need to work out a lot, which is pretty hard to do. A lot of the time, most people cannot lose that much weight in a week, and keep it off. (At least not in a healthy way.)

Some people can do it and I've lost 5 lbs in a week before. You need to workout 6 days a week for about a hour. 45 minutes on a treadmill will help. You need to have the speed at 4.0 miles and hour though....or at least close to that! It you can run or jog...do it. Working out doing cardio is key.

Cut you calories. Don't drink calories either. No sweets during that week.
