I've already told my family, but I need to tell my best friend, because it has affected her more than any of my other friends. How can I stress its severity to her, if she doesn't know what it is? I don't want her to think light of it, or think its something I could have prevented or something I can just stop... Thanks.

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

I'm assuming that you have been to a doctor, and have been diagnosed with OCD. I'm also assuming that you are on medication, and seeing a therapist/psychiatrist, etc.

If my assumptions are correct, it should not be too difficult for you to tell your friend. If she does not know what it is, you could bring a book (from the library) or pamphlet (probably available at your counselor's office) with you. This way, the two of you can read it together.

After your explanation and some reading, I think that your friend will be aware that this is not an illness to make light of--and certainly not one that you could have prevented.

Be well, do as your doctor instructs, and good luck with your friend--I'm sure she will understand.

It's NOT a big deal. I've never been diagnosed, but I'm pretty sure I have mild OCD. Just watch some of USA network's show: "Monk" with your friend. That will help her see what it's like. Monk may have more severe OCD than you do, but it's a good example. Your friend may be relieved, OCD tends to explain a lot.

You need to sit her down and tell her what that is. Then explain the problems you have with yourself. Being completely honest in this situation is the right thing to do. If she is your friend, then she will understand what you are going through. Do not let it get you down. It is not something that you could have prevented.

im kinda an analogous way different than with Dyslexia. each and all of the human beings in my new college did no longer understand i had it, and that i grew to become into bullied formerly because of the fact of it, yet at last it got here out and no one cared much less! everybody grew to become into in basic terms like "oh my brothers have been on condition that" or something. some human beings made comments like "ha ha study this thicko!" so i in basic terms spur of a catalogue of long psychological words. (my dyslexia weakens my maths and spelling skills yet my innovative, verbal & examining is in the 'proficient' decision)

A true friend will accept who you are no matter what. Either way I think she should know, if you don't tell her she might think of worse solutions. I'm sure she'll understand you and she'll stick by your side. So, just tell her like the good friend you know you are.

If you feel the need to disclose make it a suitable calm time, and be prepared with brochures & or articles so you have information to back it up & demystify it for them. If they are a true friend it will be ok, good luck.
