If it was fresh water how did the salt water fish survive if salt or brackish waters how did the fresh water fish survive? How did the bottom dwelling Crustations and Shell Fish survive the sudden increase in water pressure or the Corals survive the sudden depth changes and increased sedimentation?? The only answer was that Noah must have had huge oxygenated aquariums on board the Ark for every aquatic creature or the whole story is bunkem.
Which is more likely?

The modern explanation is that there was a great flood, but it did not cover the entire world.

It occurred when the natural barrier between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean was destroyed in an earthquake. The water rushed in and covered a huge area. Perhaps there was a major rainstorm at the time, and so it SEEMED like the rain was the cause. There is insufficient water on the planet to cover all the mountains and such.

One might ask why a planet specifically designed for humans is covered mostly by water. One might ask if God's favorite critters were whales, dolphins, sharks and other finny animals.

Obviously Noah had no way of gathering kangaroos and penguins and llamas and all sorts of freshwater fish.

unless that regional flood reach a salt water body then it would be fresh. I don't know the geography so this is all i can safely say. you are trying to discredit the account of noah's flood . You are perchance an atheist?

The entire story of the Flood is preposterous. How adults can actually believe any of this garbage is beyond me.

amecake symbolisness is not a word. Your attempt to try to sound smart failed miserably. symbology, perhaps, was the word you were going for.
