You can become a naturalized citizen, but only after living here. You can not become a citizen otherwise. As for being a resident, INS can provide documents of being a lawful resident. I believe the nearest one to you is NY. Try there first.

You can't be given citizenship or residency without actually living in the country. If you plan on living in Nicaragua all the time, then you would be in violation - even if they do give you a green card.

By the way, your English is a LOT better than many people who come here and a lot better than most of the people could speak Spanish if they went to Nicaragua.

Mi esposo es de Nicaragua originalmente.

You son can petition for you to receive a visa that let's you move to the U.S. to live permanently. If you do that, you may apply for citizenship after 5 years if you meet the other requirements.

If you don't live in the U.S. you may not become a resident or citizen.

Your english is really misleading and I am wondering.....
Are you saying you are not going to ever come to live in the usa? If so,I can't believe what you are saying. You evidently can speak and write some english. So language is not going to be a problem. So what is holding you to Nicaragua? Does the klu klux klan scare you or does the word nazi make you look behind you? Did you know that what you are suggesting is illegal? Actually I think you are a KID... BECAUSE .. IF you were an adult, you would want to be here in the states with your grandchildren. You would be at the embassy right away asking what you have to do... wouldn't you.......

Your son can sponsor you to live her and become a citizen. If you have a visa is it a tourist visa? You can apply to have that changed. When you are living here you can apply for a resident alien card, commonly refereed to as a green card. You can apply for citizenship after that. It takes about 5 years to gain citizenship after application.

Why would you even want to become a citizen in a country that you don't live in. But if you lived here in the US on your US Visa than you could eventually become a citizen. I recommend first becoming a resident of this wonderful country.

No, why could you be? in case you and your better 1/2 live contained in the U. S., your better 1/2 isn't a resident of Canada, is she? in case your better 1/2 is residing and dealing contained in the U. S., she isn't eligible for the Canadian equipment, both, it truly is for taxpayers. Our equipment isn't loose, it truly is commonly happening, there's a distinction. We do pay for it, with our taxes, and we are certain popularity. She is largely eligible if she is short-term resident contained in the U. S. with a significant position of abode in Canada, or on short-term responsibility, alongside with Canadian militia on task contained in the U. S.. you are able to develop into eligible in case you flow to, and develop right into a legal resident in Canada.

Go to the U.S. Immigrations and it will answer all your questions. It tells all about coming and applying for a visa and citizen ship in the U.S.
