If traveling during sleeping times isn't a possibility here are some things that worked for me.
Lolli pops, and lots of them. you know how during take off your ears plug and people say to chew gum? Well kids who are 18 months probably shouldn't have gum so give them a lollipop, the licking/sucking helps with that. If their ears pop, they wont be happy campers. As far as activities, bring their favorite toys, but try not to make them noise making toys, that would bother some people. if you have a laptop or portable DVD player you can bring that and plug in some headphones for listening. Other than that, you could just plan coming up with some games to play with the child to occupy them such as clapping games. One last thing, if they have a comfort object such as a pillow, blanket, or animal, make sure to bring that along to make them feel more comfortable.

I flew overseas with my 18 month old. I brought fruit and his fav snacks. Also brought new toys to keep him occupied. Luckily our flight took off at 5 pm so he slept for a bit around 10 pm to 5 am! Good luck!

I asked my pediatrician what to do when I took my twins on a long trip in the car and he suggested Benadryl as well. The twins were nine months at the time and we drove 14 hours in the car with little to no problems. Travel isn't much of a problem now because one gets car sick so he takes Dramamine and the other sleeps because he is bored that his brother is sleeping. Good Luck!

I wouldn't recommend drugging your baby.
I traveled with my son at that age, and he did great. Take lots of healthy snacks; make sure she has something to drink for takeoff and landing (so her little ears don't hurt); and bring along a couple of her favorite books and stuffed animals. I also had a lunch box packed with small toys (little animals, cars, finger puppets) that he loved.
And if you can, bring her car seat along. She's already used to it, and she's likely to be more calm and comfortable buckled in and seated in a familiar spot. (And she can't wiggle out of your arms and start running up and down the aisles. Definitely a plus.)

Your son continues to be getting used to the hot project. do not supply up on breastfeeding that instantly. getting waiting formula and bottle feeding is not any less complicated with a wondered clingy 18 months previous round than breastfeeding. interior some more suitable weeks your older son will be used to the hot project, and also you've got a a lot less complicated time nursing: there's some belongings you are able to do, if you're able to breastfed helping your toddler with only one hand (all of them worked for me): examine for your older son, even as breastfeeding the more youthful one. This one works ok. Draw pictures on a magnetic doodle board, even as breastfeeding. in case you lie down in mattress for breastfeeding, you are able to enable your older son jiggle on your legs. in case you carry your knees upward, your older son could journey on your decrease legs with his abdomen downwards. it truly is my 2-year previous's famous breastfeeding position. it truly is easily reliable to get again into structure after beginning. One exceeded play dough play, sand field play, putting the table etc. receives truly accessible with a touch bit practice. If double tasking would not grant you with the outcomes you want, you are able to attempt serving your older son a snack, even as you're taking a seat to nurse the more youthful brother. That way they are both occupied eating. you are able to placed the older one contained in the tub for some splashing, even as you sit down beside him and breastfeed. you are able to really have some particular toys, your son in reality receives to play with, if you're breastfeeding.

I'm not joking, but my friend gave the kid some benadryl to get him sleepy and on the way home some couph syrup. I packed tons of little toys, books, etc when I bought my daughter on her first trip.

Instead of well rested & highly energetic ,
Get her tired and ready for nap . . .
Limit her sleeping the night before , no naps and then feed her chocolate milk before the flight.
NAPTIME !
I used that trick on my nephews for a road trip - they dozed 95% of the way !
