My boyfriend said I "intimidate" him. He said he is usually very aggressive with girls and makes out with them on the first day they start going out or holds their hand etc but with me he gets nervous and wants to take things slow and wants everything to be perfect. He said he feels intimidated by me. I don't understand why he would feel this way? He also asks me if he can hug me before he hugs me. Why?

same thing happened to me with the past 2 guys i had.. but they ended it because i intimidated them so much.. and i didn't understand it because i didn't think i was intimidating at all. if a guy Really wants things to work out i think they just get intimidated like that. he just really cares about you and doesn't want to ruin things by going to fast because you mean more to him then that!

I am pretty sure I will get a of thumbs down for bringing psychology into this and acting like a smartass but what intimidates men is castration. The psychoanalytical definition of castration is like when someone is forcefully losing power. An example is 9/11 and how the destruction of the twin towers "Castrated" the United States. He feels intimidated by you because for some reason you are castrating him somehow. It could be as simple as you being smarter than him or being in a higher social class or you being better than him in his mind.

Mabye he's intimidated because you have a strong personality or by the way you carry yourself. He may be acting that way because there's something about you that's different from all the other girls he's been with and he doesn't want to mess up. If it bugs you tell him about it or next time he asks you if he can hug or kiss you just look him in the eye and say you dont have to ask. By flirty when you say it.

probably just because he really likes you and he doesnt want to mess things up. Its a bad flaw for some guys (I have this problem too)...when we dont care as much about a girl we have an easier time talking to them, hitting on them, even going for a kiss with them. But as soon as we like a girl we start second guessing what is normally natural for us. Just make it easy on him and hug/kiss him instead of letting him make the awkward first move.

Because he really cares about you, he feels different with you than with pother girls, you make him nervous, he wants to be perfect at all times for you. He really likes you. You must be very smart, sexy, nice.

I intimidate men too... Mostly because of my body, and because I am a smart girl. But when they get to know me more they treat me like a tresure and they treat me very carefully, in a nice way so they don't hurt me.

It is nice when a guy says that...

As far as I can tell, a lot of men are intimidated by any
women that appear to have a brain, an independent
thought, or aren't needy and clingy. Go figure....

I have the same problem sortof. You see my boyfriend (future husband) and I are both psychatrists and in many ways he tells me that I remind him of the charactor Lilith Sternin and he feels incompantant around me. He says I am to tightly wound, me.
