The stories of Noahs Ark and the seven day creation were taken by many as solid, undisputed fact. Since then, our level of knowledge has increased exponentially and has as a result at the very least cast severe doubt on the validity of those stories if not proved them complete and utterly nonsense. So biblical literalness is declining; will it keep declining to be nothing at all? Will Christians reinvent their religion to keep it alive?

They've been re-inventing as they go along for centuries.

Eventually, there will come a time when it just won't hold weight with people anymore.

We are just now starting to see this happen in this day and age. Communication and education will be responsible for the end of Christianity.

Well...lets put it this way. The Bible tells of Noah's Ark and the seven day creation. AND...it's depends on what you read and watch that has only downplayed its validity.

However, a good Christian...a REAL Christian who loves God, has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior AND believes in the Holy Spirit has no reason for doubt. Unless the people who want to do away with religion so they can 'claim stupidity' or 'lack of knowledge' as their reason for sin...then there is no reason to 're-invent' anything.

The flood of Noah's day certainly took place, even Jesus spoke of it when giving us a warning and comparing it to the people of Noah's day...

Luke 17: 26-30: "Moreover, just as it occurred in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, men were marrying, women were being given in marriage, until that day when Noah entered into the ark, and the flood arrived and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise, just as it occurred in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. 29 But on the day that Lot came out of Sod′om it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 The same way it will be on that day when the Son of man is to be revealed."

In the inspired letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Hebrews, he spoke of Noah also:

Hebrews 11:7: "By faith Noah, after being given divine warning of things not yet beheld, showed godly fear and constructed an ark for the saving of his household; and through this [faith] he condemned the world, and he became an heir of the righteousness that is according to faith."

As for the creation of the earth and all that is upon the earth, it is a shame that it has been taught that those creative days were 24 hours long, because actually, they are a period of time, in this case, each one being a very long time, at least in our understanding of time.

2 Peter 3:8: "However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day."

2 Peter 3:3-6: "For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.” 5 For, according to their wish, this fact escapes their notice, that there were heavens from of old and an earth standing compactly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; 6 and by those [means] the world of that time suffered destruction when it was deluged with water. "

Don't hold your breath. People have been saying that for centuries. It hasn't happened yet! And considering how many possible 'noah's arks' have been located using recon aircraft and satellites, I don't see it happening. Remember, you can't prove a negative. You can't prove that the Ark DIDN'T exist.

I have a feeling we will see a revival of fundamentalism when we see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of Heaven, with His Mighty angels.

Let us not decide so soon. Because I think that there are many "missing links" yest to be unearthed / excavated which were either hidden by some despots or lost in battles.
