It was frozen, then it thawed at room temp, now it is frozen again. It looks pink still, how do I know if it is bad or not? I do not want to throw out 10 pounds of ground meat, so if there is a chance I can salvage it, that would be great.

your best bet is to not eat it. bacteria filled meat doesn't necessarily smell bad. It you insist in eating, cook it very thoroughly, I mean burn the sh*t out of it!

In general it isn't safe to that out ground beef and then refreeze it. The refreezing does not at all kill any of the bacteria that had started to grow there while it was warm.

Ground beef more than other meat is susceptible to very serious food poisoning when not handled properly. That's because the bacteria (in minute levels not enough to make you sick) are ground right into the meat when it's processed. There is a great deal of surface area where they can then breed, because of the mushy texture.

Throw it all out. Salmonella or E.Coli poisoning spent in agony throwing up your guts at the hospital isn't worth the price.

In my opinion i wouldn't had frozen it again. It should still be good but in the future you have to be careful when it comes to meat. I sugest when you thaw meat out eat it don't freeze it again.

I was always told if you thaw it you can't refreeze it. Plus is it really worth the risk. 10 pounds is what 20-25 dollars. A doctors visit is 20 dollar co-pay not to mention the pepto and the toilet paper when you discover it was bad after all........

It should be fine, but be sure to cook it well. It's really not a good idea to refreeze something that's been frozen and thawed, but if you cook it all immediately, you'll be okay.

It's called aging and tenderizing. You'd know if the meat was bad.

If you season the meat, it will keep for a longer period of time! Don't just throw it away!

The saying goes...... "When in doubt, toss it out!"

Is it really worth a nasty case of food poisoning to save money on some ground beef?

Sorry, I know it makes you feel crappy to waste money.....but, yeah......food poisoning would make you feel MUCH crappier.

Stay safe and healthy!!! : )
