BOILED SHRIMP
1 gallon water
1 med. onion, sliced
3 lemons, sliced
3 oz. liquid crab boil
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 to 3 lb. med. size shrimp, headed
1/2 c. salt
2 trays ice cubes
Put all ingredients except ice and shrimp in a large pot. Bring water to a boil. Add shrimp. Let water come back to a boil and cook for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Do not over cook! Remove from heat, put ice in. This will allow the shrimp to sink to the bottom to absorb seasonings and will make the shrimp easier to peel. Let shrimp set 15 minutes. Drain water and serve.

Do you know if you like the flavor in shrimp boils? Personally they are not my cup of tea and I think they overpower the shrimp.
I generally do what most restaurants do...boil them with a small amount of salt. Then you can serve with a dipping sauce of your choice. I usually make a subsitute for Cocktail sauce since I hate horseradish, but if you like that you can always just buy a jar of that.
Any specific way you want to serve them? Peel n eat is of course easist...and you know they cook VERY quickly right or they get tough. Cook 3-5 min until pink and firm. And unless they are the big ones you don't have to devein them.

2 lbs. fresh shrimp
1 bag shrimp and crab boil
1 dozen small "new" potatoes
3 ears corn on the cob, cut in thirds
2 links Polish sausage
Cayenne pepper
Peel potatoes only around middle. Bring pot of water to boil and add a pinch of salt. Add potatoes and corn. Boil until done. Remove potatoes and corn. Cut sausage into 1 inch pieces. Add sausage and shrimp to boiling water with bag of shrimp and crab boil. Cook about 5 minutes. Cover picnic table with newspaper, spread above out and dust with cayenne pepper.
My mom used to make this.
