I guess some people settle in the fear they will be alone. I can't judge them for that. It is a scary idea being by yourself. But having grown up in a house where people weren't in it because they actually really wanted to be there, I never settled for anything less than fire works.
Do I know it will last forever? No, nothing is for certain. I know I am supposed to spend this time with him and that its wonderful. I just decided to take a leap of faith and hope for the best.
I think that people look for someone that is perfect. No one is. They do drive you insane and you do want to strangle them, slowly. It isn't always pretty and sometimes it looks better from afar. But I think you do find that person that makes you go the extra mile and you do see yourself being old and wrinkly with.
It is hard in today's society to find love. The concept of love marriages is new and now we have so much choice, distraction and expectation. There is a theory that we are serial monogomiasts. We will have several long term relationships in our lives as we grow and change. Life isnt what it use to be and it is rare if we find one person that we will change in the same direction as us.
Remember that a partner isn't going to be everything to you either. Some of the most significant relationships I have have not involved my lover. Whilst they have always been a big part of my life I think it is unrealistic to expect them to 'complete you'. Complete yourself, and a partner is an added bonus. It is one relationship that maybe you don't get forever, it doesn't mean it is everything.
Plant your own garden, don't wait for someone to bring you flowers.

You don't know if any relationship will last your entire life. Relax, and have fun. If you meet someone you want to date, date them. If you feel like you don't want to leave their side at the end of a date thats a good sign, take it from there

you never find true love... it finds you.. and i honestly think if you would just stop worrying so much about it, it will find you. Or maybe you just looking too far for it, it might be right under your nose and you don't know it.... look better and if it's not there just relax.. everything comes in time!

It's always a shot in the dark and there are no guarantees. One thing you do know for sure is 'nothing ventured nothing gained'. Try and try again until you get it right. (hopefully the next one is it!)
