It could be a bipolar illness. But don't necessarily look for the worst thing. An anxiety problem could cause this. Lack of sleep could cause this. There are physical illnesses that can cause behavior changes. A hormone imbalance is one. The first step would be to get a physical examination and make sure you are in good health. Then, if everything is OK physically, you can work on what may be wrong mentally.

I get the idea that this is you that you are talking about. If this is correct, ask someone that you trust just how erratic your behavior is. You may feel these mood changes but may not be displaying the mood changes as much as you think you are.

Good luck to you. Relax a little about what may be wrong with you and try to get help. It may be easier than you think.

It's almost impossible for bipolar mood swings to go this fast. Even rapid cycling takes place over weeks, and each mood swing must last at least 2 weeks for it to be diagnosed as bipolar.
You might have Borderline Personality Disorder. The symptoms are brief but severe mood swings, fear of being alone, unexplainable anger towards people around you, and chronic boredom or loneliness.
You might not even have a mental illness. Depending on your age, what you're experiencing might just be a normal part of getting older.
Ther only thing to do is see a psychiatrist because you wont ever know if somethings wrong until a professional diagnoses it.

Bipolar usually occurs in cycles over a period of weeks. it sounds like a mood or regulatory disorder. I could use more information. If you do not want to give more information. then use the DSM 4 differential diagnosis decision tree to help narrow it down

What you describe could be bipolar; but it could be other things as well. Although bipolar swings are usually more gradual, there is what is called "rapid cycling" where you can go from a high to a low (over and over) in just minutes. Please talk to your family doctor and tell him/her what you've told us. I've been where you are, and I know how helpless, overwhelmed, frightened and confused you can be feeling. Please see your doctor right away. Good luck, and let us know what happens! :)
