A child my parents care for came home from school with lice. After using chemicals to kill the lice she was told to put Vaseline in it for some reason. Now they can't get the Vaseline out...what should they use other than shampoo?

Mayonaise is suppose to make hair not greasy. Wet hair and lather mayo all around and let sit for 15 minutes. Then wash out with shampoo and conditioner. I dont know if it'll work but you can try!! Good Luck!

My plastic surgeon uses Edge Shave Gel after Laser treatments which gets the Vaseline in your hair. Use it just like regular shampoo, Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Ok so I am a C.N.A.....and I used to take care of this woman who, not that it matters, was a black woman and she had us braid her hair every other day and we used vaseline to keep the braids smooth and tight and let me tell you we put alot of vaseline in her hair, but on her shower days when we had to wash her hair the only thing she would let us use on her hair was that horse shampoo called MANE AND TAIL, and yes humans can use it too.....this lady would get sooo mad if we didnt use that stuff, she had been using it for years and she put the vaseline in her hair and her childrens hair also, i hope this helps!!!

the shampoo is a wise choice. avoid a conditioner combo. the best shampoo is a clarifying shampoo. i think baking soda is a mild alternative. a mild hand soap? honestly it is moare about the time the cleaner is in the child's hair. the vas was a great fix to keep the scalp from further damage. vinager is also natural cleaner, but is a bit on the odorous side. good luck!!

Rub out the surplus as much as you may with a towel. utilising a comfortable temperature water (a minimum of heat) rinse out as much as you may, rubbing for the duration of the hair. be useful to maintain the portion of hair that has the Vaseline in it cut loose the the remainder of the hair. you do no longer opt for to rinse it into the sparkling hair. After a pair of excellent 2 minutes of rinsing, use your dish cleansing soap and artwork it via for a good minute and rinse. this could desire to get it out. do no longer forget that dish cleansing soap is plenty harsher on the hair than shampoo so that's quite helpful to condition afterwards.

We put vaseline in a friends hair for a video shoot.
Only way we got it out was with washing up liquid such as fairy liquid!
Works a treat...sounds strange.
Use shampoo and conditioner after.

Some type of soap. Vaseline is non-polar and water is polar. Only likes dissolves likes, so water just slides off. Soap has a polar side to mix with water and a non-polar side to mix with Vaseline and other oils. It will wash out easily.

a good way to get rid of lice easily is with alcohol! also alcohol dries up almost anything, so try it on the kid's head and leave it on for about 2 minutes in the shower and then neatly rinse it off with warm water and avoid spilling any alcohol on or near the eyes. it should help, or go to ehow.com and search for the answer there! hope i helped:)

try dawn dish detergent, maybe any brand, but i heard dawn is best for removing any substance that will not come out of hair, after using it though put a comditioner on and let it stay in at least five mins or so because the detergent will make his /her hair coarse and dry

mix it with an oil to soften it, like olive oil, I know it sounds weird to mix a grease with oil, but the oil will soften it and make it easier to wash out. Just saturate it with oil and use a clarifying shampoo or a dish washing liquid, like Palmolive, for a couple of washes. It will wash out. I know, some woman who attempted to braid my daughter's bi racial spirial curls put a handful of it in her hair to make it stay, I was so mad....but I took her to the kitchen and put a bunch of oilve oil in it, massaged it in and washed it out.
