The vet should have told you this, but it will be at least 24 hrs and perhaps 48 hrs until she starts to feel/act like herself again. In the meantime, let her rest as much as possible. Be very careful about her incision (try not to pick her up, or let her jump up onto things, etc.). Remember this was actually major surgery, so it will take some time for her to feel normal again. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal post-surgical behavior. Good luck! :)

Is this a joke? If NOT I am sorry to offend.

It will take him 24-48 (at the most) hours to "snap back" to "normal".

No animal or human will be up and at em' 5 hours after surgery. No one. To be put under anesthesia and have a incision made in your "sack" is reason enough to be a tired maybe even cranky boy for the next day or so.

Also if he throws up tonight it is ok. Some kitty's react to anesthesia that way. IF it continues or is non stop for awhile then call your vets after hours care service.

But for God sakes don't "push" him to play or eat or drink. Let em' be alone if he wants. Keep anyone who is "hyper" or bothers him away. He is sore. Obviously.

Tomorrow check on him and see if he is ready to rejoin the "real" world again.

Thanx God you got him neutered!

I have had cats that have taken several days to recuperate from this type of surgery. It all depends on the age of the cat and the physical condition of the cat at the time of surgery. Also if he received vaccinations at the same time as the surgery, the vaccines can make them a feel sickly for a couple of days. Just continue to monitor him closely and if he does not seem to be responding to lots of TLC call your vet for advice. Good luck!

bless you... but that is quite OK. Some cats bounce back after an hour or so, some cats (becuase of their metabolism) takes a little longer. My youngest male took 24 hrs to get back to his normal active sefl. He wanted to sleep and slee and cuddle in my lap (the little sukk...) . Just allow him to sleep off the effects of the pre-anesthetic induction agent (that's the med that is making him sleep and sleep, not the anethesia itself which is a gas and gets expelled from the body very quickly). Your boy should be fine..

The cat is acting normal. Was it 5 hrs ago since he got home from an overnight stay at the vet or 5 hrs since his surgery? If you're really worried, just call the vet tomorrow morning first thing. Maybe he's just sad that he lost his manhood. lol (j/k!!!)

Your cat just had surgery. Don't expect him to feel good for a few days and allow him to rest. Check on him regularly though.

This is normal. Cats can be lethargic for up to two days after surgery, although he will probably be fine by tomorrow.

5 hours isn't that long. Give it at least a day for the anesthetic to leave his system.

He will lay around for about 1 full day then he will start to move around slowly.
