yeah, i know, it sounds kinda funny, but how can I be exercising while mowing the lawn? I know it, by itself, is already considered a mild exercise, but I have to do it every Saturday, and really wanna get something out of it other than a good-looking lawn. Any suggestions, or is it simply not possible?

Well, you could do some preparatory actions before cutting your lawn, then use the lawn cutting as an aerobic activity.

Be sure to drink some water beforehand, so that you sweat efficiently. Also, do some stretches to warm up your body. If you have a good mower, maybe you can pick up the pace somewhat to intensify the activity?

Be sure to do some stretches afterwards too. If this is "mild" activity for you, then maybe run a few laps around the block to finish?

Well, once I was mowing my lawn going in strips all along each side until there was only a little square left. When I saw the snake in the tiny square my lungs got a real work out, and even though the rest of me was tired and worked over, I still found strength to run and find help! Hummm, I am female, so that might not be enough for a guy, though. Pushmower sounds good, yeah try that.

Put some ankle weights on before you go mow. If it is a gear driven mower that moves by itself leave it out of gear and push it manually. You don't want to speed up your pace to much because it will cut you grass unevenly.

First, buy a manual lawn mower and get rid of the gas powered or electric one you now own. Second, bend down slightly at the knee with every step you take, so you are sort of bobbing up and down as you walk.

If your lawn is semi-flat try running or jogging as you push your lawn mower. Or, of you have a hill to go up take long steps so you do a lunge type move. I sometimes do this in the summer.

Just look for an old style push mower. It doesn't have a motor. Then wait for a month to mow that grass.Your dream will come true.If it's a workout you need this is your best answer.

Combine the lot, push mower, weights (ankle and wrist) and then add tunes that are active, probably a new dance like the funky mower dude that involves lots of spastic movement.

With a push mower? Try wearing some ankle weights.
