Items that you can recycle are as follows

Aluminum, plastic, tires, steel, glass(all but blue-some places will take blue seperately but nothing else most will take everything else but blue),plastic(numbers 1-7)clothes,mercury,lead,copper,paper(all types except egg carton and pizza boxes--food contaminated paper can not be recycled due to the impurities it creates in the fiber--,oil(all kinds),electronic componets, zinc, tungsten(as found in light bulbs)vegetable left overs, grass clippings, water, air, furniture, batteries and so much more. *Note: Many places will accept some of these Items for a fee. the best example of this is tires, you can drop them off at a tire shop for a fee of usually 5-15 dollars per tire. Other fees imposed are usualy those items that require special handling such as mercury, lead and batteries in some places. Contact your local solid waste management company for specific details.

paper, like junk mail adds, newspaper, basically anything made from a tree.
plastic. look on the bottom of bottles. theres a little recycling sign that has a number in the middle. if the number is a 1 or 2, you can recycle it. but only those. i think....
aluminum, like soda cans.

im sure your local recycling pick-up has a website, like waste management does, and i bet it has a list of things you can recycle and how to go about it.

almost all places recycle number 1 & 2 plastic (number one is like a clear drink bottle, number two is like a milk jug), newspaper, corrugated cardboard (boxes), mixed paper (magazines, ads, white paper, cereal boxes, etc.), aluminum cans and foil, glass and motor oil...

some places will recycle other types of plastic (numbers 3, 5, 6, 7 for example), styrofoam and grocery bags...you just have to ask

i haven't seen a place that will recycle waxy paper (i.e. the kind of boxes that are white on the inside like little debbie cake boxes or milk cartons) but it may exist...

it's always a good idea to check at your recycling center or with solid waste management of your county/city...

What you can and can't recycle will depend on what your local facility has the capabilities to handle. You'll have to check with them and they are usually more than happy to provide a fairly detailed list of what you can recycle.

For things like ink cartriges and cell phones, check at Staples or your cell phone company to get a mail in bag to recycle those.

the best advice is to start with what you have most of lying around the best things are always paper, alluminium and steel cans, glass other things maybe different things like old mobile phones, ink cartridges, These have their own currency. or you could try gifting articles to people through freecycle groups ou will always find one close to where ou live, or try donating old p.c`s to charities that reuse them.
you could always try to produce our own compost that you can use on our own garden or share it out between our friends.
I hope ou find this advice beneficial

While oil my not be recyclable, you can recycle into fuel. While old food may not be recyclable, you can turn some of it into ethanol. Computers, old wood, old carpet can be recycled-if you do some work.
