I am nearly 50 years old and also had a Dad who would make me and my sisters eat when we weren't hungry. He would also dish up the food on our plates and would always put on way too much. As a result, I and one of my sisters have obesity problems now that are a result of eating too much as children. We would eat it all because we wanted to please him. He grew up in the depression and didn't have enough to eat as a child so he was determined to feed us right according to his way of thinking. My youngest sister would go into the bathroom after supper and throw-up because her little body couldn't hold that much food at a sitting. I would seriously sit down with your Dad and have a discussion about eating. If you have some type of eating disorder where you don't eat and he is concerned then maybe you two should go to a Doctor and if the problem is his and not yours then the Doctor could explain to your Dad the dangers of forcing a child to eat past the point that her body says it needs food. I never did that with my Dad and I have had a life time of problems as a result. Good Luck.

It a sign of respect for those that prepared the meal. While I don't encourage you to clean your plate, making an effort to show respect by eating some of what is served is the right thing to do. A couple of bites won't hurt you. And maybe you should consider why you aren't hungry? Snacking possibly?
