I constantly bite my fingernails. I have tried to stop but it seems like every time they start to grow out, I bite them again. What can I do to stop without buying stuff or putting something like hot sauce on them?

you can buy this stuff at drug stores. its like nail polish and its clear. when you bite your nails with the stuff on it tastes incredibly bad so you dont want to do it. im sorry i dont no the name of it but my parents bought it for me when i was younger and it worked really well because i didnt want to bite them when it tasted so bad.

Nail biting is a psychological problem, usually relating to some type of phobia, fear, or stressful situation. A person is watching a football game, his/her team is losing, NAIL BITING....A scary movie is on, or suspense movie, NAIL BITING...You go to work, and rumor goes around that you are going to get fired, NAIL BITING... Get the idea? You need to review your daily life, or routine, and see what is bothering you. If you bite your nails, long enough, then it becomes habit. Even if you no longer have problems. Then again, you will have another problem, bad habits. It sounds sarcastic, I know, but I'm totally serious.Take up activities that make you feel happy, and stay with it and it might get rid of any unnecessary stress.

Make your nails really pretty! Paint them yourself, or go get a manicure. Or, get some fake nails and put those on. It hurts when you try to bite them off. Trust me, I've tried.

Sounds like you have obsessive compulsive disorder with self-mutilation tendencies. See your doctor for a prescription.
