My employer's local office never updated my address and now my w-2's are incorrect. It may effect my return and my mother's return since I just moved out within the last year and I'm over 21. Will I be able to acquire corrected W-2s?
Any (helpful, logical, honest, experienced) suggestions are greatly appreciated.

had this problem last yr too. It nearly effected mom's return, my tax guy was able to wheedle us around it, thankfully. I am concerned that this situation 2 years running will turn into a problem in the future...

You don't need a corrected W-2. Just file using the one you have. That won't affect your return OR your mother's - it's a very common situation.

Make sure that you use your current address at the top of the return.

touch the previous employer and have them replace their documents. W-2 kinds are mailed immediately from the employer (or their payroll provider business enterprise) to the worker so there is not any necessary database. additionally word: the address on your W-2 would not count to the IRS so in case you do some thing like p.c.. it up in individual and it has the incorrect address there is not any could rigidity approximately getting it corrected.

The address on the W2 is not important, if your name and social security number are correct and the dollar amounts are correct.
What is important is that you put your current address on the Tax return that you complete.

As long as you received your W-2s, I don't think it makes any difference what address is on them. The IRS uses the address on your return, not that on your W-2s.
