Why do cats lick the water at the drain in sinks and bathtubs? Is it minerals in the water or something else?

my dogs do it...I think it might be fungi....and it should not be harmful

I think that it is just another source of water, as cats are very inquisitive and like to do strange things at times.

Because it's fresher than the water in their dish.
