My sister is 6 month pregnant, she did not breast feed her first child but is considering doing so with the one she is currently carrying. She admitted she was worried her breasts might sag after she stops. I told her that when she has her baby her breasts fill up with milk anyway so if they were going to sag they would do so without breastfeeding. But she said they didnt change with her first child. So am i right or is she?

some women's breasts get bigger with breast milk and this causes stretch marks on their breasts and/ or it their breasts sag after they stop and their milk dries up, my friend says her breasts were like a perky b cup but they were a D cup when she breast fed and now her breasts droop and she would never breastfeed if she had a chance to do it all again. every pregnancy is different and so are women's bodies but this is a real risk every woman who chooses to breastfeed takes

You are both right. Gravity will take its course and the breasts will drop. The breasts don't have muscle on top to hold them up. But time is the factor.

So if your breasts are going to sag anyway, isn't it more important to give your baby the best nourishment you can? (Especially since she is considering.) There are so many health benefits as well. I breast fed both of my children, and there is nothing more special than a mother's bond with her baby, learning to nurse, and all of the perks that come with it - no pun intended.

She can continue to exercise, eat a well balance diet and experience something only a mother can! The following websites have some interesting info and support. Best wishes....smiles!

Many women notice differences in how their breasts look and feel while during pregnancy and after having a baby. Initial changes (such as breast enlargement) are related to the body's preparation for milk production. Other changes, such as a darker color and increased size of the areola (the dark circle around the nipple) and more prominent nipples, are sometimes permanent. Changes generally are minor and result from pregnancy, not breast-feeding. Some changes, such as sagging, are influenced by heredity, the type of bra you wear, and the effects of aging.

I breast fed both of my children and my breast did not sag till I gained some weight when my youngest child was 4. Each person is different. There are exercises you can do to firm things up after you wean your baby. Breast feeding is best for your baby!! If you sag buy a good bra your baby is so worth it!

As I understand it, sagging only comes from being unsupported. Either you are wearing a bra, or nursing your baby - both of which are supported - so I wouldn't worry about it.

Of course, someone who has nursed before could better verify.

Mine never changed. If she breastfeeds the baby for 7 years like some people do then they might. But just the normal 1 year, it shouldn't change them at all.

Sometimes, but sometimes they do WITHOUT breastfeeding. It's more age that makes them sag not nursing.

it's genetics mostly and loss of muscle tone as you age.. none of which has to do with breastfeeding.
