Because there are lots of troops that have never gone at all, so it sucks that they keep sending the same people over and over again.

For one thing, troops complain about everything. Its tradition. Its called grousing. I've done 7 tours in the Middle East since 1991. The complaining has never abated.
Can you blame them for complaining? They go for six months to a year at a time, bust their butts completing their objectives, then come home to hear about how we're losing the war. Seems pretty thankless. I can understand a certain amount of frustration. Leaving your family behind to deploy sucks, but its part of the job. Having everything you did while you were deployed dismissed by the public as a failure is despicable. Don't get me wrong, even if the war was 'popular' the troops would complain. War is war and nobody wants to go there or be separated from loved ones for extended periods, but like I said, its part of the job. The complaining will still be there, though.

Who in their right mind wouldn't complain about repeat trips to Iraq? Witness that over 60,000 marriages between family members being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan have failed, close to 30,000 wounded and maimed American troops, and over 200,000 troops now suffering from PTSD. And then look at the poor care and treatment this administration is providing for our troops. Certainly all good reason to complain.

Probably cause they do need more of a break. There are probably just as many troops however that either haven't been (I'm fortunate my hubby got sent back for an inspection 3 days before the war started) or that WANT to go back.
I know many that are ready to go back - but he can't due to an ankle surgery. He's very mad that he can't leave with his unit....

wow, i'm surprised. the Marines at "my base" NASJax and Sailors @ Mayport do not complain on the whole. while they have gone back time and time again, and many were able to "retire" they opted not too. they have "been there, done that" and want to finsih what was started and also - they see a great deal of change and know that it will only get better. while they don't like being away from their families and friends.... they know this is what they signed up for and why they stay.

You get your contract for work negotiated without your consent and see how it affects you. Then go off to do your job for peanuts while the persons your hired to protect make 5 times your salary and have no laws to contend with while they do their jobs---all the while the rest of your family back home is struggling like hell to make ends meet. And then come home to see your Commander in Chief's officers convicted of offenses that prove the baseless reasoning behind your deployment, not to mention what you have to look forward to if you happened to get injured.
You'd be just as p'od as they are.

This is a dumb question. US troops are starting to realize that this is pointless, costly, and idiotic. Why should they not complain about being sent back each year?

Because most people don't like the idea of dieing for George Bush's and Dick Cheney's lies. Iraq wasn't a haven for terrorists or a threat to the US, it was just a good way to get George re-elected so he could continue to give his rich buddies tax breaks to feather their nests.
