My experience is: While on vacation in Florida two years ago I was in a flea market and bought an $80 titanium driver which looks remarkably like the 400 cc Callaway model of that time. It has been excellent and it still matches the latest Callaway models I have tested. I also have a Mitsushiba two-ball putter that cost only $30 and is excellent in balance, looks and performance, I wasn't even tempted to pay $100's more for the slightly different original

Just like anything, it depends on how well it is made. Many clones simply are not the same quality, and the manufacturers do not stand behind their products as well as the major manufacturers. It also depends on how good a player you are. If you are a better player, you might be able to feel differences in playability that the average or high handicapper cannot.

That being said, if you are simply looking for an inexpensive way to upgrade your clubs, a clone might be for you. Just don't expect the clubs to last as long as their more expensive counterparts.

A lot of the clones come off the exact same line as the top manufactures. So never stop trying different clubs and remember the guys you see on t.v. are paid to play those clubs.

Many "knock-off" clubs are just as good as their mainstream manufactured counterparts. The main thing to look out for is the quality of the castings and forgings. Most of the knock-off clubs are made in China with very little in the way of quality standards. Most are good, but you never really know until you buy and play with them. To me, the piece of mind I get knowing I have bought a quality product from a factory licensed by the company who owns the product line is worth the extra I pay.
