"All Human Beings go to Heaven, or no Humans Beings go to Heaven!"
Humans are more social biological than individual biological. We are totally dependent on others including mothers, care givers, teachers, medical staff, records keepers, authorities including emergency technicians, equipment and their inventories and builders.
You can go on and on listing all the things that any one individual is dependent on like water, trees, insects, the earth in general and so on. Life is all of this complex system that supports the individual and makes life livable.
Life is explicable also, so we together can know life and how to do life. But individually, there is no life.
The Human Community is a complex organism of mutually dependence. This condition allows for an illusion of independence which only exists if their is cooperation between humans to allow it to exist.

There is this Chinese proverb called "塞翁失馬 焉知非福" Literally translated to "Mr.Tsai lost his horse. Who knew it wasn't a blessing?" The story came from the 2nd century BC philosophical classic "Huainanzi", one of the earliest Chinese textbook. This is how the story goes:
--------------------------------------------------------------
"One day, an old farmer Mr. Choi discovered that his horse had run away. "Terrible!" his neighbors said sympathetically. "How do you know?" asked the farmer.

The next morning the farmer's horse returned with two wild horses. "Wonderful!" the neighbors said. "How do you know?" asked the farmer.

The next morning the farmer's son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown off, and broke his leg. "Terrible!" his neighbors said. "How do you know?" asked the farmer.

The next morning, soldiers came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. "Wonderful!" said the neighbors. "How do you know?" asked the farmer.
--------------------------------------------------------------

The moral of the story is that life is unexpectable. Blessing and misfortune are intertwine. We should not be frustrated at time of misfortune because luck will turn around, and we should not place too much importance on unexpected blessings because extreme pleasure is often followed by sorrow.

I like it a lot because it's just so true! :D

I think it is very similar to the english idioms "a blessing in disguise". Well, "a curse in disguise" as well.

Its like teaching grandma to suck eggs. I love this because it conjures up a wonderful visual image of an old woman sitting in front of the TV sucking eggs. Interestingly, the French equivalent is 'on n'apprend pas à un vieux singe à faire des grimaces' ie you can't teach an old monkey to pull faces.

Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set him on fire and he's warm for life.
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.
Early Bird gets the worm but Second Mouse gets the cheese.
Eagles may soar, but weasles don't get suched into jet engines.
A Bird in the hand is safer than one overhead.

'Dyfal donc a dyrr y garreg'

Thats Welsh, it means (unliterally) to keep on trying.

'Y ddraig goch a ddyry gychwyn'

Again Welsh, it means 'the red dragon leads the way'.

pride comes before a fall, your can guarantee when something goes well and you comment on it, it will either all fall apart or something bad happens - or I'm just a pessimist!

Mine is;
"A friend in need is a friend indeed."

Why?

Because it is rather difficult to establish true friendship.
