I heard the scar is replacing the m16 for usa, true?

If so whats the advantages over the m16s?

Why not the xm8? (whatever it was called)

Please someone tell my government to replace our sa80s, it not fair to suply our troops with unreliable weapons.

The XM8 was supposed to replace the M16 family in the US military but due to some lawsuits and that some said the competition was done unfairly, they decided to run more tests with the XM8 and some other condenders.
The competition was then cancelled before it begun and as far as I know it hasn't been rescheduled. The XM8 and SCAR are still possibilities along with some others, including bullpups like the SA-80 and FAMAS (although not those particular rifles).

The Americans are keeping M16s and M4s for years to come; it would cost far too much to replace them at the moment.

The SA80 A2 has actually been tested against other rifles of the same calibre, including the M16 and was proven to be much more reliable (and accurate). It isn't perfect, no weapon is, but it works very well when it is properly maintained.

Actually, Barret (the company that developed the M82A1 .50BMG sniper rifle), is developing a new weapon, identical in operation to the M-16 family of firearms, but it fires the Remington 6.8mm round. It has more power than the 5.56mm used in the M-16, but greater accuracy than the 7.62mm used by the AK-47. It is designated as the M468, and is currently under evaluation.
