Absolutely!
While we transition to Solar and other forms of renewable energy, we need to build and operate nuclear power plants.
No matter what the 'Greens' say...any civilized culture needs large amounts of energy.
Hugging trees and 'gettin back to nature' just ain't gona cut it.

Yes. Nuclear energy provides electricity without producing greenhouse gases--or other pollution. Thus, they are a good alternative for using oil or coal for power generation.

The safety issue and the cost are the drawbacks. Overall, nuclear power has a great safety record. However--and the 1980s Chernoble disaster proved--when you do have a full-blown accident, it's catastrophic.

But those safety concerns can be dealt with (my opinion, anyway). Also, while fairly expensive, it is economically practical-and new technologies may bring the costs down in new plants. In all liklihood, nuclear power, along with other technologies, will be a part of the solution to global warming.

In a word, yes. Nuclear power would. However, they do emit one greenhouse gas: water from their hyperbolic cooling towers. I suppose a closed cycle reactor could solve that though.

Nuclear power is a very powerful source of energy, and will likely be the wave of the future for generating electricity, especially as fossil fuel costs rise in the future. The disadvatage is that nuclear plants are expensive to make.

I should like to point out that the chances of nuclear meltdowns are near zero right now becuase of the intensive safety procedures that are implemented.

The biggest problem is nuclear waste, and it is categorized in three levels based on radioactivity. The biggest problem is where to dispose of it. (It's not that you need a lot of space to get rid of it, just a good storage for the next few millenniums).

Even so, nuclear power will likely proliferate in the future, despite some attempts to curb it.

first of all, global warming is a myth, but yes, nuclear power would be better for the environment than fossil fuels
