I have 2 workers at my house and my mother cooks lavish homemade meals for them.
However mom worked today, and I got stuck and they worked today, came in late, then went out for an hour, and one of the workers called me by name first time ever and asked me if I'm going to make lunch or do we have to make it ourselves very rudely. I got so upset. Am I obligated to feed this animal. I made the food and just told them to go and help themselves.

I just left them to eat themselves claiming I was sick, as I got really really upset at his behavior.

No. The meals were NOT part of the contract. My mother is a very generous giving lady, but I see how people take advantage of her, and as I write this they have just worked for an hour since coming in 11:00 this morning.

And on top of this he tells me he's taking extra food home. OH my GOD. I am baffled at this idiot!

Your mother is a gracious and kind lady. These people are animals. They should not expect this. Do they work better when your Mom is there? You may need to talk to your mom and see how much work is actually getting done. If not much is getting done, then read her contract and ask her to allow you to intercede for her.

These two are ungrateful pigs.

"Sorry, my mom isn't home and I don't have time to cook/don't cook well/don't want to cook, so yes you'll have to take care of your own lunch today."
Etiquette does not include being so nice that you have to let other people walk all over you. You're under no obligation to cook their lunch, if your mom likes to do so that's great but that doesn't mean you have to. It would prevent misunderstandings if your mom had simply let them know she wouldn't be there today, after all I'm sure this work didn't come up at a moment's notice (unless someone called in sick and she suddenly had to go in?). That way they'd have known they had to bring their own lunch.

I would let them know how blessed you all are to have the extra's that your mom provides that is not in the contract. Let them know your mom works too hard just to provide extras such as this and maybe you could help them provide a surprise night out as a thank you for your mom, at least every so often. Or better yet, then can start a kitty to put money in for that new washer/dryer your mom needs. Saves them from going to a resturant where they also pay a tip!

What baffles me is WHY you went and made lunch for these gorillas? And taking extra food home with them?

Seriously, you and your mother need to be a little more assertive. Not only are they walking all over you, but they're getting fed and paid by you to do it!

That's almost past rude. You should talk to your mom about it and explain what happened and how it made you feel. She should deal with it. Make sure you tell her that they came late and left for an hour. It's like they're taking advantage of you and that's just not on. Next time I would try not to be home, or home alone with them.

Your mother may have an agreement to provide meals to them, but if she did not obligate you to do so, then you have none. Nor do you have any obligation to speak to them. Record their behavior, and their work schedule, and report it to your mother. As for a reponse to their rude comment:

"I'm sorry, my mother is out today. You will have to see to your own meals. Good day".

if its not in the contract i would have told them to feed themselves and to have them bring food home, how rude.I would try and convince mom to stop feeding these people or start cooking badly.

My words would have been.... "Take a good look at me. Obviously , I am not my mother. Now find a sandwich somewhere, enjoy a 30 minute lunch break, and then get back to work. And by the way, to YOU ... I am Mr./Ms_______"

Wow. Do not cook them anything, and try to convince your mom to do the same.

All caliber of rudeness. You mother whould have had a backup plan in place, you should have been more accomodating and they should have been less rapacious
