it is not safe to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time. Typically 10lbs per month is suggested. Anyway if you really want to lose a good deal of weight you have to obviously cut calories but most important thing is you have to get a lot of physical activity in. Try to doing at least 30 minutes of cardio 4 times a week and weight train for at least 45 minutes 3-4 times a week. Weight training is very important because even after you finish training you are still able to burn a lot of calories. I also suggest that you concentrate on different muscle groups at different times so that you don't overwork your muscles. Good luck!

It is not safe to try to meet this goal. But you probably should lose some weight even if you don't look extremely fat, you are very tall. Still that's a lot for a kid to carry around.

I would talk to a trainer, or your coach...and see about weight training that is low impact on your knees and hips...because that is most likely already under stress from the weight.

You want to weight train. Muscle weighs more but healthy muscle tissue is what boosts metabolism and resets your body's calorie burning furnace, getting it into high gear so you lose fat. Cardio also helps because when you are breathing properly, and your heart is working right, you circulate better to remove all the nasties easier.

You do NOT want to cut or binge on any food group, so the high protein low carb diets are OUT. You are too young for that stuff, you are still developing even if you don't grow much more. You need all the food groups. Cutting carbs is a horrible idea, for one reason, if you cut all your starches, you will have less energy to get motivated to be active. Activity is what keeps your metabolism up.

You want lots of water, lots of fiber to clean up the colon and detox the body. But you can't just crap it all out, and do it with food, not chemical laxatives...foods like salad, carrots, melons, beans, prunes, apricots (also good for muscles).

You cannot eat too many fruits and vegetables unless you are getting the runs from it. They will give you all the nutrients and roughage that you need to get cleaned up from the inside out. And all those toxins add up to pounds of waste in the cells (pre-poop) and colon (poop). You can also get a lot from oatmeal.

You also want to eat small portions more often. You can eat a snack every two hours and no meals, if you plan them right, and eat healthy food.

Think about this: Your metabolism is like a furnace that burns calories. Unlike a furnace in a building, you want your furnace to be very wasteful if you are overweight...to use up the fat!

If you turned on your oven to bake a pan of cookies, and then let it cool off and then heated it back up to bake another pan, you use MORE energy that way...bad for ovens, good for you. So eat less food more often. Everytime your body has to fire itself up to burn calories it starts over again...if you eat a lot at once, you are just running the furnace while it is already hot which keeps your body hanging onto fat.
