to describe the privitazation of corrections?? I know what it is but am at a loss to find a good way to describe it that doesn't sound like I just copied it from the book.

A method of potentially alleviating the tax burden of prison construction and maintenance by allowing private companies to build and maintain prisons (and detain prisoners), partially for a fee (charged to the government, read: taxpayers) but also potentially by putting the prisoners to work for the benefit of the prison.
