It is possible that you will be traced - but as a general rule the RIAA and such like will close down the companies that provide the file sharing software its self.

Also, it is a good idea to turn sharing off (ie. delete all your sharing folders in Tools->Options->Sharing->Shared Folders) This means that you are less of a target because you are merely taking what others are providing rather than providing it yourself.

You are generally safe with file sharing apps but you can do nothing if they do descide to target you. A safer bet is to use bittorrent.

[Note: I am merely providing information - I do not condone the use of file sharing software to downloaded copywrited music or applications]

HEY! I'VE BEEN USING LIMEWIRE PRO FOR 4 YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN TROUBLE FOR USING IT! You can be trased only because of you being on the internet, not because you are using Limewire and you get cookies from going onto dodgy websites like astalavista.com although you only get cookies when you are using that site to find serials, keygens and patches

I think that it is possible to be trased. But unless your downloading kiddy porn or have 1000's of files you really dont have to worry. And what i have found that works is...in your settings...set it so your not sharing files and trasfer all the files you get from there to a different file so even if you are trased...they wont find much so they wont investigate. Hope this helps...good luck and dont get caught.

every email. every text message every phone call zooms through a super computer the size of a few football pitches.

But unless your using Limewire to get codes for reprogramming inter continental nuclear missiles , don't worry.

oh wait a minute,, Limewire,, Worry, Worry quite a bit. apart from the obvious illegalities of downloading programs music movies video etc there's the chance of viruses and key-loggers and other dodgy stuff

What do you do to stop it? Stop using Limewire,, oh you mean being traced. Stop using Limewire.

pulling your leg, dont panic

If you download Firefox there is an Add on that will give you and address and map of anyone who is online from their IP address.

If A fairly basic computer user like me can do that in under five minutes imagine what someone who is truly out for you can do!

It is truly only the big time file sharers who are uploading and downloading 100's of GB a day that are gonna get any trouble though.

You can only be trased if you can't spell or do you spell it like that in the states. If so maybe we spelling it wrong in England lol

Dont listen, you could only be in trouble if you downloaded thousands of songs a week.

Millions of people use it for private use,no one is going to try and trace you for music thats just for you to use.

If you're really that concerned, use BitTorrent. Double check your ISP's privacy policies and user agreements. Limewire itself isn't illegal (unless you're in Spain) what you download with it may be.

Yes you can be traced because all users have a unique ID that can be followed back to your home address.
